The CROSS-REIS team members, Jelena Stanković and Ivana Marjanović conducted the project’s first conference presentation at the prestigious SUM 2024 / 7th Symposium on Circular Economy and Urban Mining, held in Capri, Italy. This year’s symposium welcomed delegates from 34 different countries to discuss and advance strategies in circular economy and urban mining.

SUM 2024 focuses on the saving and recovery of resources and the increasing need for environmental sustainability. It represents a significant platform where scientists and stakeholders from various disciplines, including engineering, economics, and chemistry, come together. The symposium addresses critical issues such as the quality of recycled products, sustainable residue management, and market stability, aiming to foster a comprehensive and scientific approach to circular economy and urban mining.

Our team’s presentation, "Territorial resource efficiency in Circular Economy," took place under the session title "Territorial Case Studies". The aim of the study was to evaluate circular economy efficiency across European Union nations using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Through the application of this methodology to country-level data, this innovative approach attempts to generate a composite indicator of circular economy development, facilitating benchmarking and cross-country comparisons.
