CROSS-REIS Info Day - Slovenia

15 October 2024 University of Ljubljana, Faculty of civil and geodetic engineering

In order to better acquaint the academic and wider public with the activities of the CROSS-REIS project and to promote understanding of the concept of the regenerative economy, an INFO day is planned at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, on Tuesday, October 15th 2024.

As part of the info-day, we will organize a roundtable on the topic: From Circular to Regenerative Tackling Challenges in the Built Environment.

Date: October 15, 2024 at 11 am

Location: University of Ljubljana, Faculty of civil and geodetic engineering
Jamova cesta 2, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia

The CROSS-REIS project encourages cooperation between universities and research centres from 5 developing European countries (Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Croatia) and 3 institutions from leading research countries (Norway, Spain, Italy).

The CROSS-REIS project focuses on three key themes of the transition from a circular to a regenerative economy:

Closing the loop by promoting a circular model. The project encourages the reuse and recycling of materials and products within the same production process, thereby reducing the consumption of new raw materials and environmental impact.

Effective waste management includes waste prevention, recycling, composting, and energy recovery.

Promoting Green infrastructure; supporting biodiversity and improving the quality of life in urban areas.

During the information day, we will present an in-depth concept of regenerative economy, with a special focus on the built environment. Through the roundtable discussion titled From Circular to Regenerative: Tackling Challenges in the Built Environment, we will address the desire to preserve a healthy environment and regenerate degraded areas, along with the need for effective investment processes in the built environment.

The CROSS-REIS Project goes beyond research frameworks and actively promotes collaboration with various stakeholders. We invite everyone who can contribute to a more effective transition to participate. As part of the event, we will announce future activities including an educational workshop for local government employees, focusing on green public procurement in the construction sector and beyond.
