Towards Regenerative Economies: Pathways for Inclusive, Sustainable and Resilient Development in Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa
CROSS-REIS is proud to be one of the co-organisers of the EMANES Annual Conference 2025, which will bring together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to explore the transformative potential of regenerative economic approaches across Europe, the Mediterranean, and Africa.
Under the theme “Towards Regenerative Economies,” this year’s edition responds to global calls for economic models that go beyond sustainability — aiming to restore natural ecosystems, strengthen communities, and promote long-term socio-economic resilience. Participants will address how regenerative development can shape greener, fairer, and more inclusive futures through systems innovation, circular economy models, nature-based solutions, and place-based strategies.
The conference will be held in a hybrid format and hosted by the CROSS-REIS consortium member Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA) and the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), in collaboration with CROSS-REIS and fellow Horizon Europe project ReForest, along with the Circular Economy and Climate Institute of EPLO.
Researchers and project partners are invited to contribute papers on key topics including circularity, regenerative finance, digital transformation, urban-rural synergies, and inclusive governance. A Special Issue of Economic Notes and Best Paper Awards will highlight leading contributions.
Call for papers open until 10 October 2025
